Cheesy Ground Beef & Biscuit Cups

🧀 Cheesy Ground Beef & Biscuit Cups

These golden, crispy cups are filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with melted cheese. They’re perfect for an easy appetizer, snack, or family dinner.

Ingredients

For the cups:

  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough or crescent-roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the beef filling:

  • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

For topping:

  • Extra shredded cheese
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned.
  2. Add the aromatics:
Add the chopped onion and cook for another 3–4 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  3. Season:
Add salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, garlic powder, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and cook for 2–3 minutes until the mixture is flavorful and most of the excess liquid has evaporated.
  4. Prepare the dough:
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a muffin tin. Separate the biscuit dough and gently press each piece into a muffin cup, forming a small bowl.
  5. Add cheese:
Sprinkle a little mozzarella and cheddar into the bottom of each dough cup.
  6. Fill:
Spoon the seasoned ground beef into each cup, filling them generously but leaving enough room for the cheese topping.
  7. Top with cheese:
Cover each cup with another generous sprinkle of shredded cheese.
  8. Bake:
Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
  9. Garnish:
Let the cups cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and fresh parsley.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Drain excess fat from the beef so the dough stays crisp.
  • Don’t overfill the dough cups, or the filling may spill over during baking.
  • For extra flavor, add diced bell pepper, mushrooms, or jalapeños to the beef.
  • A combination of mozzarella and cheddar gives you both excellent melting and a richer flavor.
  • For a crispier bottom, bake the dough cups for about 5 minutes before adding the filling, then continue baking until golden.

Serving idea: Serve these warm with ketchup, garlic sauce, ranch dressing, or a simple tomato dipping sauce.
